I was a stay-at-home parent for 9 years. Winter was always the most difficult part of the year for me because I wasn’t able to get out of the house as often with my children. When trips to the park, zoo, or pool weren’t an option, taking my kids to a music class was very helpful in providing them with a creative outlet to exert some energy, as well as an opportunity for me to socialize with other adults. When “play with me” to a toddler means “You have to put this toy here, and don’t move it unless I tell you,” it’s nice to have some other activities you can do together to break up the winter monotony!
